The NHL is trying to crackdown on unnecessary blows to the head.
The NHL's Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, had the following memo, obtained by TSN, posted in every NHL dressing room on Friday.
"Recently, we have had two (2) supplemental discipline incidents involving direct elbow blows to the head. This is a play that we have been trying to remove from our game for a number of years. In one case there was no injury and in the other incident the elbowed Player received a concus
General managers will have one extra day to make NHL trades. The league said yesterday it has pushed the trade deadline back to March 4. A high volume of games forced the switch. There are 12 games on the schedule March 3 and only two March 4. The league and NHL Players' Association agreed on the change.

ATLANTA - Ending the season with a victory was no consolation to Kari Lehtonen.
When the Atlanta Thrashers reported to training camp, their No. 1 goaltender thought his team was a lock to return to the playoffs.
"It's sad. The way we played all year, we should be glad it's over," Lehtonen said. "It's really hard right now."
Colby Armstrong scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period and the Thrashers added two empty-netters in the final minute of a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday
